ARTICLES: REGARDING A TEACH PEACE UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM

October 7, 2026

What About Peace?

To the Presidents, Provosts, Professors, and Students of the World's Universities

Every course taught in a university aims, in one way or another, to improve human life and lift up the society around it. Medicine, law, economics, engineering, the arts: each, at its best, increases the peace. Yet peace itself is almost never taught as a daily practice.

The mandate is already written. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that education shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace. UNESCO's founding constitution declares that since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed. Of all the great institutions of the world human society, only the universities are founded and financed to educate. Not corporations. Not religions. Not governments. Not social media. So if the universities are not teaching peace, what about peace?

Teach Peace offers a daily, present-tense tool for that mandate. It rests on one question, asked of every act: Will this increase or decrease the level of peace in the world human society? The answer is reached through calm, intelligent, open-ended discussion, never a verdict handed down. Every day, three new questions drawn from the news are published in a ready-to-use classroom format, each naming the departments it serves. Any professor may take one into any class, with no program, approval, or fee required.

Every year a new generation of future leaders walks through the doors of every school and university in the world. What they practice there, they will carry into government, business, law, medicine, and their own homes. Teach Peace asks that peace be part of that practice.

Everything is open and free to read:

TheWorldPeaceTeachPeacePerspective.com, the core of Teach Peace: the method, the 585-page core text, the workbooks, and the daily questions.

JohnWorldPeace.com, who Dr. John WorldPeace is, with links to all related websites and books.

Please forward this letter to a colleague, a department chair, a dean, or a student leader who should see it. Then take one of today's questions into one class and see what happens in the room.

Everything is open for discussion. Suggestions are welcome on any part of Teach Peace, from the method to the daily questions. With the writer's permission, feedback will be posted for the global audience, and a changes page will record every update so that everyone works from the same process.

When peace becomes our priority, peace and WorldPeace will become our reality.

The Fair Question

Fairness as Leadership in Teach Peace

The objective of Teach Peace is to lead. Leading is not the same as winning an argument. A leader on peace earns the trust of people who disagree with one another, and keeps that trust by being fair to all of them. For that reason, the fairness of every Teach Peace question is not a matter of style. It is a matter of leadership.

Every Teach Peace question has the same core shape: Will this action increase or decrease the level of peace in the world human society? That shape is fair by design. It names no villain and favors no side. But the shape alone does not protect a question. Unfairness can enter through what is placed inside it, and through each of the sections that follow it. A leader must guard all of them.

Consider the failed Tennessee execution of September 30, 2026. An unfair core question in proper Teach Peace form would read: Does Tennessee's torture of a half-dead woman increase or decrease the level of peace in the world human society? The frame is intact, but the words torture and half-dead have already answered it. A student who supports the death penalty can only argue with the wording, and the victim of the original crime has disappeared from the question. The fair version names the act neutrally: Does carrying out this sentence, after two failed attempts, increase or decrease the level of peace in the world human society?

The Agreed Factors can be made unfair by stating a contested claim as settled. To write that the death penalty does not deter murder, when that is precisely what people dispute, is to slip a conclusion into the facts. Agreed Factors must contain only what both sides accept: the crime, the conviction, the two failed doses, the state's pause for review.

The Guided Prompts can be made unfair by leaning in one direction. Eight prompts about the prisoner's suffering and none about the victim's family would steer the room even if every prompt ended with a question mark. Fair prompts give the strongest form of each position, introduced as there are those who believe, so that every student in the room can find a place to stand and begin thinking.

The Reflection can be made unfair by delivering a verdict. To write that a third attempt would clearly decrease the peace is to end the discussion the question was meant to begin. The Reflection offers a mitigating factor, something worth holding while the room decides. It never decides for the room.

Fairness does not mean the founder must be silent. I have strong convictions, and I state them openly in my own voice, labeled as mine, as I believe. I intend to push educators hard to take up these questions every day. But my voice and the question are kept separate. The pressure comes from me; the conclusions come from the students. If my convictions leak into the question itself, a teacher has every reason to set it aside, and the room loses its trust in the method.

This is the leadership lesson at the heart of Teach Peace. People will follow a leader on peace only if they believe the leader will treat their side fairly. A question that tilts the room may win a single discussion, but it loses the people who disagreed, and peace cannot be built without them. How can we increase the level of peace in the world human society if we do not include everyone? A fair question is how everyone is included.

Teach Peace applies its own test to itself. A balanced question increases the peace, because it opens discussion among people who disagree. An unfair question decreases it, because it hardens positions and teaches students that inquiry is only argument in disguise. Every daily question must pass that test before it is published.

Subject: Teaching Peace at Your University: A Complete, Published Curriculum Ready to Begin

Dear University President, Provost, Professors, and Peace Groups,

First, I have too much to say for one video, so expect more.

My name is Dr. John WorldPeace, JD. Who is Dr. John WorldPeace, JD? I am the Global Advocate for Peace and WorldPeace. I have no individual peers. I am an advocate for peace. I am not a pacifist.

I am writing to ask your university to consider becoming the hub university for a global Teach Peace curriculum. If not the hub, then an associate of the hub university, or a contributing and supporting university. I have a significant, published body of work that took me seventy years to create, thirty-eight years to write, and one year for AI to help me edit, organize, and publish. It is a Teach Peace agenda that a university can begin using immediately.

I have two primary Teach Peace websites. The first is my flagship website, JohnWorldPeace.com, which I began in 1998, which now holds 50,000 pages, and to which I am the only contributor. The second is TheWorldPeaceTeachPeacePerspective.com. I have also written and published 163 books on Amazon, on religion, spirituality, politics, peace, art, and poetry.

All of the peace curricula I have found in universities focus on historical events and historical figures. My core text and workbooks are built on a method of teaching in the present. The method opens up a discussion of every human endeavor and asks one simple question: Will this proposed action increase or decrease the level of peace in the world human society?

The present curriculum consists of a 585-page core text and five workbooks. Two of the workbooks, at 566 and 337 pages, are published on Amazon, and the remaining three are available in full on the project website while they await print publication. Everything about the Teach Peace project, including the complete method, the published texts, and how a university can begin using them today, is at https://TheWorldPeaceTeachPeacePerspective.com.

My plan is to begin with a single elective and build toward a BA, MA, and PhD in Peace Studies, first at one hub university and eventually at universities across the country and the world, with associate and supporting universities joining along the way. One university must be willing to serve as the hub, and that is the reason for this letter. This is a global endeavor, and it will occupy the rest of my life.

I moved from Texas to New Mexico in 2011 specifically to finish this body of work, and I have lived a deliberately minimalist life for the past fifteen years in order to complete it. Stage one of that work is now finished. Because Albuquerque has been my home for those fifteen years, I contacted the University of New Mexico first, before reaching out to some 4,000 universities across the country in search of the right institutional home for this project.

I legally changed my birth name to John WorldPeace on April 5, 1988, as a public statement of the focus of the rest of my life. I am seventy-eight years old. When I was eight years old and in Sunday school, I decided that I would devote my life to promoting peace. I did not intend to become a preacher, and I did not become one. That early conviction grew into a lifelong determination to help increase the level of peace in the world human society, and I have spent the seventy years since working toward it, most intensively the last fourteen.

I hold three degrees from the University of Houston: a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (1970), a Bachelor of Accountancy (1978), and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (1984). I worked full time for ten years while earning these degrees, and for six of those years I also had four children at home. They are now in their fifties, with children of their own. I am Mensa certified (top 2% IQ) and Intertel certified (top 1% IQ). I have been self-employed for virtually my entire working career, in insurance, accounting, tax, law, and website marketing, advising small business owners directly.

Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948, my mother's twenty-first birthday. Less than three months later, on April 24, 1948, I was born.

I was on the University of Houston campus from 1966 to 1970, as a political science major, during the most intense years of the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War protests. I graduated in August 1970 and was in the Army by October 1970; I volunteered for the draft. When I was thirteen, I said I would join the Army, become a sergeant, and be sent to Europe, and that is what happened nine years later. When I arrived at Fort Polk for basic training, the Army was sending 2,000 soldiers a week to Vietnam. I was trained for a year to go to Vietnam as an infantry sergeant but, by the grace of God, was instead sent to Vicenza, Italy, and assigned to an Army company attached to the NATO Southern European Task Force.

My flagship website, https://JohnWorldPeace.com, has been online since 1998 and now holds roughly 50,000 pages. My life is an open book, and all of my other websites are linked from this site. I have written and self-published 163 books through KDP Amazon, roughly 120 of them poetry, some 8,000 poems in all. I began writing poetry in 1970 and began publishing it in 2019. I have also been an artist since the age of fourteen, and my gallery site is https://JohnWorldPeaceContemporaryArtGalleryUSA.com.

I have rewritten, for my own understanding and for others, the major texts of the Eastern religions: the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhammapada, the Analects of Confucius, and the Tao Te Ching. I have also reorganized the four Gospels of Christianity into a single narrative, removing the repetition and reordering the content. It was most recently published as The Life of Jesus Christ: An Epic Poem, written in my free verse style.

Every website and every book behind this project was written by me alone. Over the last nine months, AI tools, both OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude, helped me organize and complete fifty-six years of independent writing into a coherent, usable whole, and helped me edit and reorganize my 163 published books. AI's role was organizational and editorial, not authorial.

My history is public record. I ran for Governor of Texas from January 2000 to March 2002. In the aftermath, I was disbarred by the State Bar of Texas following what I believe was pressure directed at me as a result of a negative campaign by the Texas Democratic Party. The full pleadings are posted at JohnWorldPeace.com for anyone who wants to examine the record directly.

For attorneys reading this: the State Bar pled for monetary damages, not disbarment, and the out-of-county judge who heard my case was not appointed to hear five of the six complaints against me. I appealed through the state courts, through the Supreme Court of Texas, and have not pursued an appeal in federal court. The judge had no jurisdiction over those five complaints, and no jurisdiction to order a disbarment that the State Bar never pled. Having exhausted my Texas appeals, I believe there is no statute of limitations on my filing a federal appeal.

I was later charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, arising from an encounter with a U.S. Deputy Marshal who was attempting to serve a civil bench warrant related to my mother's bankruptcy proceeding. I have never been in a physical fight in my life, but knowing that few witnesses can overcome the testimony of a law enforcement officer, I pled guilty to the resisting arrest charge and a one-year misdemeanor sentence. The State Bar also filed a contempt action alleging 208 violations of the disbarment order and held a trial without serving me. Texas justice is my only response.

In prison, I spent five months in solitary confinement after being moved to a contract federal prison in Falfurrias, Texas. Those contract prisons were later determined to be illegal and were shut down. I was out of my cell for only thirteen hours during my time there. While in prison, I wrote seven books, reorganized the four Gospels to eliminate their repetition, and kept a 750-page prison journal, as well as writing 250 pages of my autobiography.

Since 1988, when I changed my name to state my life's work, my mantra has been this: How can we increase the level of peace in the world human society if we do not include everyone, all races, all nationalities, all religions, and all genders, in our vision of peace? The answer is that we can't.

I consider all children my children, all parents and grandparents my parents and grandparents, and all aunts and uncles my aunts and uncles. And I ask one more question constantly: Do you love your children more than you hate your perceived enemies?

When peace becomes our priority, peace and WorldPeace will become our reality.

WorldPeace is one word. As two words, as it is now commonly written, it represents two separate things.

The universities of the world are the only entities in the world human society able to lead a Teach Peace agenda. Corporations and religions have agendas that are averse to peace. Universities, to date, have also failed to teach it, beyond studying significant peace advocates of the past. Not teaching peace is a neglect of every university's global mandate to teach.

Having been John WorldPeace for thirty-eight years, I can say from firsthand experience that virtually every human being hates peace, and hates those who advocate it even more, even those who give lip service to supporting peace. Why? Because humans hate change more than anything else, and increasing the peace means change.

I have a whole website devoted to impeaching Donald Trump, the Donald Trump who is increasing the global temperature by blocking solar and wind power. More importantly, at the UN on September 22, he threatened to annihilate the Islamic Republic of Iran. And friends, this week Putin's government picked up that insanity, warning NATO that Russia could use nuclear weapons if the alliance tries to isolate Kaliningrad, the Russian exclave between Poland and Lithuania. Where are the sane citizens of the world? Where are the American politicians? Where is the pushback? Trump is the current Dr. Strangelove. Nothing was learned from the 1950s about nuclear bombs.

Yes, friends, it is time to teach peace in every university in the world human society. I am calling for it. I have the foundational website, textbook, and workbooks. No one else has created them. Where are the universities, when the world is in dire need of their mandate to teach peace?

Quotes from the 1960s: If not me, who? If not now, when? Those questions apply even more today, given the existential threat humans now pose to the earth and to the world human society. And another, also from the 1960s, for universities around the globe: If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Let me give one last wake-up call to peace groups. Until you unite behind one Global Peace Advocate on the issues you agree on, you will not have access to any national government, much less the UN. World leaders are not going to sit down with thousands of peace group spokespersons. They will listen to one supported Global Peace Advocate. Process that!

If not me, who? If not now, when?

I would welcome the chance to discuss this further with your university. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Dr. John WorldPeace, JD
